What is a CFO?
A Chief Financial Officer is the person primarily responsible for
managing the financial risks of the business. This person is
typically responsible for financial planning and record keeping,
as well as financial reporting to higher management. The CFO
needs to gather, report, analyze and understand key business
drivers. With loads of data coming from multiple sources or even
QuickBooks, the financial issues can get blurred. The CFO must
integrate and simplify information gathering, analysis and
delivery systems into something that makes sense to the
business owner or management team. Financial success
depends on implementation of a rock-solid strategy. Strategy
and finance are integrally connected disciplines.

Why would you be interested in a CFO?

You need to tune up your business plan to present to a bank or
other funding source.

You know that your margins on your product or service should
be better but you're not seeing the results you expect.

You want to know what all the real financial information means
as it reaches across all areas of your company.

You need to develop and implement finance, accounting, billing,
and auditing procedures.

You want to establish and maintain appropriate internal control
safeguards.

You would want someone to interact with other managers to
provide consultative support to planning initiatives through
financial and management information analyses, reports, and
recommendations.

You need to have an analysis of cash flow, cost controls, and
expenses to guide business leaders, as well as analyze financial
statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.

And if you're in the international markets: Overview financial
management of foreign operations to include developing
financial and budget policies and procedures.
